Regency II Water Ionizer Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ 2 - Unit Operations
Q1: Sometimes I find myself running hot water instead of cold water. Does running hot water ruin the filter or any other part of the unit?
Q2: When I first turn the water on, the cleaning cycle begins with the beeper going. The manual doesn't cover the little switch on the inside of the filter door. Does this switch turn the cleaning alarm noise off ?
Q3: Once it comes out of cleaning it does not light up the water purification LED. The LED lights up when you specifically select ‘water purify’. It doesn't seem to do both purify and ionize at the same time. Am I using it correctly ?
Q4: When it comes out of the cleaning cycle does that mean the water coming out at the moment is ready to drink or do you wait a little longer for the alkaline water to reach the nozzle after the alarm stops?
Q5: Do we need to keep the water cold?
Q6:
When washing bean sprouts that I grow at home, am I supposed to use acid or alkaline water to rinse them?
Does running hot water ruin the filter or any other part of the unit?
A1: Hot water in the unit can cause damage but it would likely need to run on hot for several minutes for that to occur.
There are two things that could happen and there are also ways for you to check the unit for damage.
In the filter the charcoal loses its ability to absorb chemicals , so if you notice the taste of chlorine, that could be a sign that it had too much hot water.
Secondly, the internal reactor has a very fine, sensitive membrane, that could melt or distort its shape from the heat. You can test that by doing a pH test. If you still get a difference of pH between the Alkaline & Acid waters you know it is still working good. Test while using power level 5 for a more visual effect.Top
When I first turn the water on, the cleaning cycle begins with the beeper going. The manual doesn't cover the little switch on the inside of the filter door. Does this switch turn the cleaning alarm noise off?
A2: No, the little red button is a reset for the filter indicator. Both the digital read out and the bar lite systems work on accumulating time when the power is on. The little black switch is to adjust the time intervals for different countries. For America we pre-set it in the centre, giving you the maximum 20 hr. time cycle. Left or right reduces the time to 14 and 16 hrs. Top
Once it comes out of cleaning, it does not light up the water purification LED. The LED lights up when you specifically select 'water purify'. It doesn't seem to do both purify and ionize at the same time. Am I using it correctly?
A3: Yes, The water always goes through the filter for purification and you should use it on ion mode. The ‘purify only’ button bypasses the ionization process for people who want filtered water only. Some folks prefer basic filtered water for their medication. Top
When it comes out of the cleaning cycle does that mean the water coming out at that moment is ready to drink or do you wait a little longer for the alkaline water to reach the nozzle after the alarm stops?
A4: Yes, allow about a cup of water to flow out . That will flush out the acidic water from the cleaning cycle. Top
Do we need to keep the water cold?
A5: Most folks will fill a pitcher of water or 2 litre container so the have the water on the counter ready to pour into a glass. It is your choice to put the water in a refrigerator to keep it cold. Top
When washing bean sprouts that I grow at home, am I supposed to use acid or alkaline water to rinse them?
A6: Acid water is used for washing vegetables, fruits, & meats to kill bacteria. Top
