Fluoride Filter

FAQ 1 - Fluoride

Q1: What is the Fluoride Filter Media made out of?

What is the Fluoride Filter Media made out of?
A1:Received your question about the Fluoride filter media. Here is a short explanation... a chemist could give more details, but I trust this will help.

The media is an ACTIVATED ALUMINA TRIHYDRATE.
Just seeing the word Alumina can lead a person to think of Aluminium and that is were the word is derived from. However it is an oxide, simply meaning it is an oxidized material and no longer aluminium.

Here is a partial description from the dictionary for the word Alumina.
The oxide of aluminium Al2O3 that occurs native in hydrated forms, that is made, usually, from bauxite in various forms as a white powder obtained by calcination or from a hard crystalline substance resembling natural corundum obtained by heating calcined aluminium oxide almost to the fusion point.

Now when it is in the Activated form as a Trihydrate it becomes a very good adsorbent of various chemicals, such as Fluoride.

Therefore you do not need to be concerned about adding aluminium to your filtered water. Top
